As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in achieving our business strategy, focusing on software development for naval innovation. You will lead and mentor software development teams, leveraging your expertise to drive projects to success.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Software development using languages such as C++, Java, and others
  2. System design using UML/Enterprise Architect
  3. Unit testing
  4. HMI design and development
  5. Configuration management

You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and may require occasional travel between our sites for testing and integration.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following key capabilities:

  1. Proven leadership in software development projects
  2. Experience in leading teams of software engineers, either functionally or in a line management capacity
  3. A degree or equivalent qualification in software engineering or a related discipline
  4. Strong knowledge and understanding of software engineering, with a preference for familiarity with military systems, particularly maritime systems
  5. Understanding of Open Systems Architectures and Principles
  6. Significant experience with Software Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools
  7. Problem-solving skills and the ability to critically review results and methods for quality assurance
  8. Ability to expand knowledge into new domain areas, collaborate across domains, and see the bigger picture
  9. Excellent communication skills, including the delivery of presentations
  10. Exceptional written skills, especially in technical report writing and the ability to communicate with both expert and non-expert stakeholders

Ideally, experience in one or more of the following domain areas:

  1. Maritime Combat Systems
  2. Equipment and software integration
  3. Mine countermeasures
  4. Off-board unmanned systems
  5. Command and control systems
  6. Acoustics/sonar
  7. Software safety (DEF STAN 00-56 & IEC 61508 or equivalent)
