About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant to join our team at St Monica Trust. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents with their daily needs, promoting their health and wellbeing, and building strong relationships with them and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality care to residents, including personal care, assisting with mobility needs, and supporting those with dementia and end-of-life care.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, wellbeing coordinators, and therapy teams to provide meaningful activities and promote resident engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with residents, their families, and other stakeholders, ensuring a person-centred approach to care.
  • Assist with nutrition and food choices, serving drinks, and supporting residents with eating and drinking.
  • Maintain accurate records of care and regulatory needs, contributing to a safe and secure environment.
Requirements
  • Level 2 in Care (or equivalent qualification or experience) for Senior Care Assistants.
  • Ability to provide effective personal care with dignity, including assisting with nutrition, bathing, and toileting.
  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) level to include maths and English.
  • Confident in using IT and basic understanding of Word/Email.
  • Awareness of older people's needs and some understanding of dementia.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 2 in Care (or equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Level 3 in Care (or willingness to work towards it) for Senior Care Assistants.
  • Experience of working with older people, those with a disability, and/or dementia.
  • Experience of working in a nursing home/hospital/sheltered housing/social care setting.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid, manual handling, and food and hygiene practices.
