Job Title: Accommodation and Housing Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Accommodation and Housing Officer to join our team at Social Personnel. As a key member of our Homelessness Prevention and Solutions Service, you will play a vital role in providing effective triage and duty services to individuals in housing need or threatened with homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide advice on a range of options to solve housing problems, including tenancy rights, housing, and welfare benefits.
  • Make initial enquiries into reasons to believe clients are eligible and homeless, and filter and contact online housing options to prevent homelessness.
  • Undertake email and telephone duties, providing housing advice and referring clients to relevant services.
  • Capture and process data on the Council's housing system to accurately reflect the application process and stage of application.
  • Work collaboratively with the Housing Duty Manager to allocate cases and request temporary accommodation when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
  • Knowledge of security of tenure, welfare benefits, and advice services, including Domestic Abuse services.
  • Experience of dealing with customers in person, telephone, and email, and working in housing advice/homelessness.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a workload, and prioritize urgent cases.
