Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and contributing to the conservation of our planet?
Chester Zoo's Youth Board is a unique opportunity for young people aged 18-26 to get involved in the zoo's mission to prevent extinction. As a member of the Youth Board, you will have the chance to influence decision-makers, develop new skills, and make a real impact on the zoo's conservation efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Attend and contribute to 6 Youth Board meetings each year
- Participate in additional committee, working group, and project meetings as required
- Read relevant papers and complete preparatory work in advance of meetings
- Attend and support the annual Youth Summit
- Contribute to relevant projects in support of the zoo's programme for 12-25 year olds
- Work with other Youth Board members to make recommendations to the Chester Zoo Trustees and senior teams
- Act as ambassadors of Chester Zoo and attend events in this capacity
We're seeking young people with a wide range of interests and skills who are passionate about making a difference. You don't need to have a background in zoology or conservation, but you should be enthusiastic about working with the zoo's staff and your fellow Youth Board members to create exciting projects.
We're particularly keen to encourage interest from young people who have experience or interest in areas such as zoology and conservation, marketing and communications, public speaking, education, and hospitality.
What You'll GainAs a member of the Youth Board, you'll have the opportunity to develop new skills, make new friends, and contribute to the zoo's conservation efforts. You'll also receive a full induction, regular webinars, and training sessions to support your personal development.
We're committed to broadening the range of experience and perspectives represented on our Youth Board, and we're particularly keen to encourage interest from young people who are currently underrepresented in the conservation sector.
