About Hempsons and the Role

Hempsons is a leading healthcare law firm seeking an HR Advisor to support its five offices nationwide. Although based in Manchester, the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the HR team and provide HR advice and support to business support functions.

The Role

The HR Advisor will be part of the HR & Recruitment Team, providing HR advice and support to business support functions, including roles such as PA, DPC, PSA, Facilities, Docucentre, First Impressions, and Multi-services. The successful candidate will work closely with the HR team, business support manager, and facilities manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR contact for business support functions, providing advice and guidance on HR matters.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise on and resolve employee relations issues.
  • Support with flexible working requests, maternity leave, and starter and leaver processes.
  • Coordinate employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pensions, and health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support in delivering HR projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process.

Candidate Specification

  • Experience as an HR Advisor or similar role, ideally in a law firm or professional services organisation.
  • Experience in administering employee benefits is an advantage.
  • Strong employee relations experience with good knowledge of employment legislation.
  • A proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Highly organised and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.
  • IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as experience of a HR database.
  • A professional qualification (CIPD or equivalent) is highly desirable.
