We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist/Engineer to join our team at Anthropic. As a Research Scientist/Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing our understanding of AI safety and developing innovative solutions to mitigate the risks associated with powerful AI systems.

About the Role

As a Research Scientist/Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing experiments to test the robustness of our safety techniques, as well as contributing to the development of new techniques and methods. You will work closely with our team of researchers and engineers to advance our understanding of AI safety and develop innovative solutions to mitigate the risks associated with powerful AI systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement experiments to test the robustness of our safety techniques
  • Contribute to the development of new techniques and methods for AI safety
  • Collaborate with our team of researchers and engineers to advance our understanding of AI safety
  • Run multi-agent reinforcement learning experiments to test out techniques like AI Debate
  • Contribute ideas, figures, and writing to research papers, blog posts, and talks
  • Run experiments that feed into key AI safety efforts at Anthropic, like the design and implementation of our Responsible Scaling Policy
Requirements
  • Have significant software, ML, or research engineering experience
  • Have some experience contributing to empirical AI research projects
  • Have some familiarity with technical AI safety research
  • Prefer fast-moving collaborative projects to extensive solo efforts
  • Care about the impacts of AI
  • Have experience authoring research papers in machine learning, NLP, or AI safety
