Job Description

Role Overview

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a lovely SEN Secondary School in Waterlooville. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and providing individualized support to students with Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in creating a nurturing environment that enables students to engage successfully in all aspects of learning.
  • Provide individualized support to students with Special Educational Needs, including those with ASC, complex needs, and challenging behaviors.
  • Assist with outdoor day trips and activity days, promoting social skills and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.

Requirements

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, proactivity, and resilience, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of the students and the school.
  • A strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
