Role: Ophthalmology Technician

About the Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for an Ophthalmology Technician to become a vital member of the Ramsay Health Care Clinical team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, individualized patient care as part of a dedicated clinical team.

Ophthalmology Technicians play a crucial role in our Ophthalmology department. You will assist in the operation of outpatient clinics by guiding patients through various assessments. This will include evaluating patients' vision and conducting diagnostic tests, requiring a solid foundation of competencies in a diverse range of ophthalmic skills:

  • Visual Acuity Assessment
  • Color Vision Evaluations
  • Pupillary Reaction Testing (RAPD / PERRLA)
  • Eye Drop Administration
  • Intraocular Pressure Measurement (Tonometry)
  • Corneal Thickness Measurement (Pachymetry)
  • Eyelid Eversion Techniques
  • Eye Irrigation Procedures
  • Ocular Swab Collection
  • Conjunctival Swab Collection
  • Assisting with Intra-Vitreal Injections
  • Support during Minor Surgical Interventions
  • Pre-Operative Evaluations
  • Biometric Measurements
  • Optical Coherence Tomography

Work Environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance for Ophthalmology Clinics, including consultations and virtual diagnostic assessments.
  • Conduct Optical Coherence Tomography testing.
  • Assist medical practitioners with macular injections.
  • Perform visual acuity evaluations.
  • Administer eye drops for ocular examinations.
  • Conduct intraocular pressure assessments using specialized equipment.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of Ophthalmology clinics by supporting fellow technicians.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas.
  • Offer support to patients and their caregivers.
