Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Heart Failure Nurse to join our Heart Failure Nurse Specialist Team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in improving the experience and clinical outcomes of our patients with heart failure.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, investigations, treatment, and advice for patients admitted to hospital with a possible diagnosis of heart failure.
  • Comprehensively manage the heart failure patient within the outpatient setting to improve their quality of life and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Arrange and interpret appropriate investigations to ensure evidence-based treatment and management plans for all patients.
  • Undertake advanced clinical assessment and provide specialist advice, education, and support to patients, their carers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support and assess competencies for trainee Heart Failure Nurses.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Heart Failure Nurse Specialist with a passion for improving patient care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience as a Heart Failure Nurse Specialist in a UK setting.
  • Evidence of continued professional development related to cardiology.
  • Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology.

Desirable criteria include experience as a Heart Failure Nurse Specialist, leadership experience, and experience in audit.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with a Mentorship/Teaching and Assessment qualification, Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification, or working towards it. They will also have completed BSH Nurse Competencies or equivalent and have postgraduate education relating to the specialty.
