The Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Performance Insights team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a data ecosystem that supports our football data strategy. Your expertise will be crucial in building a culture of data-driven insights, enabling us to make informed decisions and drive positive change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of all data sets, ensuring seamless access to structured and unstructured data sources for key stakeholders.
  • Design and implement a data pipeline that meets our football data strategy, from source to 'gold' standard ready-to-use datasets.
  • Collaborate with our Head of Performance Insights and the Performance Insights department to ensure data-driven insights are integrated into our decision-making processes.
  • Develop and implement business intelligence and analytics strategies and roadmaps, leveraging your expertise in data architecture, management, and development.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, articulating your experience working with large datasets, databases, and ETL systems.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong background in data architecture, management, and development.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines, with a focus on data quality and integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and deploying bespoke applications, preferably in Microsoft Power Apps or similar.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and analytics strategies, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
