Unlock Your Potential as a Chartered Accountant

Are you ready to embark on a rewarding career as a chartered accountant? At ICAEW, we offer a structured training and development programme that will equip you with the skills and knowledge to succeed in this exciting field.

What Does it Mean to be a Chartered Accountant?

As a chartered accountant, you will play a pivotal role in helping businesses make crucial decisions and drive sustainable growth. You will be at the forefront of an industry where your passion lies, building strong economies and communities globally.

The ACA Qualification

The ACA is our globally recognised chartered accountancy qualification, designed to provide trainees with the professional skills and strategic insight they need to make a real impact. You can start the ACA qualification after completing an undergraduate degree in any subject, and you don't need to have studied accountancy, business, or finance.

Our Training Programme

Our training programme is structured to develop your leadership potential and provide you with the skills to succeed in the accounting and finance industry. You will learn everything you need to know in your training agreement, and you will have the opportunity to gain practical work experience and develop your professional skills.

Key Components of the ACA
  • Practical Work Experience: You will need to record 450 days of relevant 'on-the-job' work experience during your period of approved training.
  • Ethics and Professional Curiosity: You will follow a structured programme to develop your understanding of ethics and professional curiosity, focusing on areas such as integrity, objectivity, and independence.
  • Accountancy, Finance, and Business Modules: You will complete 15 modules, each with its own computer-based exam, staged across three levels.
  • Professional Development: You will demonstrate your competence in seven key professional skills, such as communication, teamwork, and decision-making, by providing examples from your work experience.

For more information on what's involved as part of the ACA, view our graduate brochure by clicking on the button below.
