Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer Apprentice to join our team at Hypnos Beds. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and availability of our manufacturing facility and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Preventive Maintenance

Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to the required standard, ensuring maximum machine and process reliability and availability.

  1. Continuous Improvement

Conduct continuous machine observation and measurement, identifying potential machine failure, safety risks, or deterioration in output, waste, or quality performance.

  1. Root Cause Analysis

Determine the cause of potential failure or performance deterioration and either complete remedial work during the shift or brief the Maintenance Manager on the issue, cause, and recommended solution.

  1. Training and Development

Provide associate training where appropriate and maintain a signed record of training for the Production Manager.

  1. Risk Assessment

Conduct risk assessments prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to the start of the work to remove hazards.

  1. Equipment Handover

Ensure that equipment is handed back to production in 100% safe condition.

Major Challenges
  1. Standardized Work Conformation

Ensure regular standardized work conformation audits are undertaken and achieve world-class levels of conformance. Identify reasons for non-conformance and rectify.

  1. Culture of Continuous Improvement

Work with teams to implement a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

Key Performance Indicators
  1. Standard of Work

Measure and maintain a high standard of work, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required standard.

  1. Reporting

Ensure that reports are clear, concise, and up-to-date, providing accurate information to stakeholders.

  1. Work Completion

Measure and maintain a high level of work completion, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the required standard.

  1. Machine and Process Improvements

Identify and implement machine and process improvements, resulting in increased efficiency and productivity.

  1. Corrective Actions

Complete corrective actions during the shift to return equipment to standard output, quality, and waste levels.

Requirements
  • Apprentice Trained

Must be apprentice-trained and have a strong understanding of maintenance principles and practices.

  • Electrical Drawing Reading

Must be able to read electrical drawings and have a strong understanding of electrical systems.

  • Logical Fault Finding

Must be able to logically fault-find and diagnose issues with equipment and systems.

  • Experience with Inverters and Drives

Must have experience working with inverters, servo, and DC drives, as well as experience with circuits from 415 to 24VDC power and control.

  • PPM Experience

Must have experience carrying out PPM (Predictive Preventive Maintenance) tasks.

  • Pneumatics Understanding

Must have a strong understanding of pneumatics and be able to read mechanical drawings.

  • Fabrication Experience

Must have experience with fabrication and be able to work with a variety of materials.

  • FM Experience

Must have experience working with FM (Facilities Management) systems and be able to implement FM best practices within an environment of continuous improvement.
