Position Overview
We are excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to become a pivotal member of our Children's Therapy team. The successful candidate will serve as a seasoned clinician, taking on the role of clinical lead for the Speech and Language Therapy Service dedicated to children, enhancing clinical practices for those with special educational needs and disabilities, and spearheading the integration of best practices into everyday clinical operations.
Your role will involve conducting highly specialized assessments and interventions for children and adolescents across various community environments, with the objective of empowering parents and caregivers to understand and actively engage in the management of their child's needs.
In addition, you will provide guidance and mentorship to fellow members of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) team while playing an integral part in the leadership of the broader Children's Speech and Language Therapy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the clinical lead for the Speech and Language Therapy Service for children with SEN, driving advancements in clinical practice and leading the integration of best practices into service delivery.
- Manage a highly specialized caseload independently.
- Operate autonomously within organizational policies and professional standards, ensuring accurate and comprehensive record-keeping.
- Conduct specialized assessments and treatments for children and young people with SEN, utilizing education and guidance to enable parents, caregivers, and professionals to effectively manage the child's condition.
- Establish clinical diagnoses, develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust individualized treatment plans, and provide expert advice, ensuring appropriate care pathways and communication through collaboration with other agencies as necessary.
- Educate and mentor Speech and Language Therapists and both qualified and non-qualified healthcare, social services, and educational staff, including medical personnel.
- Assist the Team Leader in the daily operational management of the team.
- Support and advise the wider multi-agency team in service delivery.
- Lead the SALT team in conducting assessments and interventions for children in diverse settings, including homes and educational institutions.
About Our Organization
The Children's Therapy team operates as a community-based service, with team bases in multiple locations, providing care to children in various environments, including homes, schools, and early years settings. Our team comprises Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and therapy assistants.
We maintain strong partnerships with educational institutions, early years settings, and social care, allowing you to be part of a comprehensive team dedicated to supporting children and their families.
We offer robust leadership, clinical supervision, and regular peer support. We are committed to professional development and training for all our staff.

- Act as a resource within the Children's Therapy service, providing guidance to Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals regarding the assessment, treatment, and management of children with multi-pathological conditions and complex psychosocial needs.

- Work alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure effective care pathways and transitions.
- Facilitate seamless transitions of care and ongoing therapeutic management for children and young people.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the MDT, addressing the complexities of professional boundaries and, where competent, taking on aspects of blurred boundary working as appropriate.
- Develop specialized programs for assessment, treatment, and intervention.
