Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in a quantitative social research field to enhance our educational and research initiatives.

Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to: sociology, economics, psychology, social policy, and political science. Candidates with a focus on data science, particularly in leveraging big data, machine learning, and natural language processing within social science contexts, are highly encouraged to apply.

Your role will involve expanding our interdisciplinary research capabilities, emphasizing the application of quantitative methodologies to address real-world challenges. You will be expected to pursue research funding from diverse sources and demonstrate tangible impact and engagement through your work. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead modules in our BSc Social Sciences with Data Science or MSc Social Research Methods programs, with potential for future co-leadership.

This position is integral to the overall functioning and vitality of the department.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant social science discipline, showcasing advanced quantitative methodologies and a developing reputation for impactful research, including a solid record of peer-reviewed publications.

Experience in applying data science techniques—such as machine learning or natural language processing—to social science inquiries is advantageous.
