Transport Operations Manager

Next is a leading online and high street retailer with a state-of-the-art Warehousing and Logistics business employing over 9,000 people across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Transport Team Manager to join our fast-paced and dynamic Central Transport operation.
About the RoleAs a Transport Team Manager at Next, you will work closely with the Transport Assistant Site Manager to ensure the smooth, accurate, and cost-effective operation of our Central Transport department. You will manage a team of Transport Coordinators and Drivers, ensuring they are well-organized, trained, and motivated to deliver operational efficiency targets and maintain H&S compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Produce daily and weekly plans to achieve operational efficiency targets
- Monitor performance against standards and take appropriate action to maintain or improve as required
- Ensure all Drivers' hours and tachograph infringements are controlled and managed
- Adhere to statutory road transport legislation, O-licence requirements, and Company policies and procedures
- Monitor and investigate accidents and incidents, identifying Root Cause and implementing recommendations
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Transport Team Manager who can demonstrate the ability to manage changing priorities, work well under pressure, and make sound operational decisions. You will have proven people management skills and experience of working in a busy transport function, with solid knowledge of road transport legislation, O-licence requirements, and Driver hours.
You will be a natural problem-solver, able to search out solutions and draw upon your previous transport management experience to lead the team. If you're passionate about logistics and enjoy the challenge of a fast-paced environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
