Senior Short Term Power Trader

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Short Term Power Trader to join our dynamic Energy department. As a key member of our trading team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our brand new within day trading desk, optimizing OVO's power balancing activities, and delivering P&L growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize value from OVO's power portfolio
  • Lead the development of our within day trading desk, working closely with our tech and data science teams
  • Make data-driven decisions to optimize power balancing activities and deliver P&L growth
  • Work with our portfolio management team to deliver a book structure, risk, and P&L reporting suite
  • Develop a detailed plan to build a cutting-edge analytical toolkit

Requirements

  • Proven track record as an Energy Trading professional in UK Power markets
  • Extensive experience across UK Wholesale Power and Gas Markets, with a deep understanding of the global energy landscape
  • Able to add value through astute trading, particularly in optimizing Power balancing activities
  • Strong cross-functional teamwork skills, with experience delivering successful projects in partnership with diverse teams
  • Innovative thinking, with a flair for direct responsibility and consistently delivering tangible value
  • Ability to own and execute critical business processes with precision and adaptability
  • Keen eye for critical analysis, with the ability to interrogate model outputs and provide valuable feedback
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations and respond with conclusive actions

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary range of £70,000 - £90,000, depending on experience
  • On-target bonus of 15%
