Job Overview

The University of Glasgow is initiating a transformative strategic program that encompasses substantial modifications to its ERP and Research Management systems.

Creating effective solutions for our personnel relies on a variety of business analysis skills, including user-centered service design, business process evaluation, and data analysis.

The Senior Business Analyst position is pivotal in spearheading and designing enhanced processes for our staff, focusing on process-enabled transformation.

Depending on the issue at hand and the proposed solution, the role may lean more towards service design or data analytics.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Lead the design and development of innovative business processes, collaborating with senior stakeholders to pinpoint critical challenges faced by staff.

Guide the creation of the 'to be' process and outline the necessary change activities to implement new operational methods, including identifying the benefits associated with these changes.

Provide proactive and constructive feedback to challenge established practices and eliminate potential obstacles to change.

Oversee the evaluation of current services and processes to uncover improvement opportunities through the introduction of new methodologies, delivering expert analytical insights to craft new processes and related changes, translating these into best practices and facilitating new business frameworks.

Critically analyze the performance of existing services and processes, employing lean management techniques to identify areas for enhancement.

Evaluate and define the current and desired user experience across the services and applications under review, persuading service providers and clients to integrate a positive user experience.

Utilize principles of both service and user experience design in Finance Systems programs, encompassing research, planning, facilitation, storytelling, analysis, ideation, critical thinking, prototyping, reporting, and presentation.

Visualize, articulate, and resolve complex challenges and concepts related to service design and delivery, making informed decisions based on available data and research.

5.

Leverage technical expertise to create or design functional prototypes, modifying products and services as necessary.

6.

Report to relevant Project Boards on all aspects of the design and development of new processes, service design, and the scale of change involved.

Act as the primary liaison for senior staff to contribute to the design process and comprehend user feedback that highlights areas for change, preparing high-quality documentation and necessary business analysis outputs.

7.

Represent the strategic transformation programs and the University in appropriate internal and external forums.


Required Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Essential Knowledge/Qualifications: A1 Demonstrated competencies necessary for the responsibilities associated with this level of position, having acquired the requisite professional knowledge and management skills in similar or diverse specialist roles.

Or:

Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, 10, or 11 (Ordinary/Honours Degree, Post Graduate Qualification), or equivalent, including professional qualifications in relevant fields such as IT, Management, or Engineering, with extensive professional experience in senior roles.

A2 In-depth knowledge of change initiatives, including organizational and process design, systems implementation, and data projects.

A3 Comprehensive understanding and experience with various process and service design tools and techniques, including data utilization.

A4 Extensive knowledge of the IT system development lifecycle and the application of digital technologies to facilitate process enhancement and user-centered services.

Desirable Qualifications: B1 SCRUM certification or PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate.
B2 Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
B3 ITIL Foundation.

Essential Skills: C1 Management of intricate projects throughout the entire business analysis lifecycle, with a proven record of successful delivery.
C2 Proficient writing and communication skills to produce clear project management documentation and content tailored for sponsors and stakeholders.
C3 Ability to create compelling business analysis outputs, such as

new process maps, process universes, and Lean Heat Maps, ensuring these are agreed upon and communicated with the project team, project board, and stakeholders.

C4 Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical aspects, capable of executing complex business improvement initiatives.

C5 Highly effective communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with a diverse range of internal stakeholders.

C6 Leadership and motivational capabilities in both formal and informal contexts, including effective negotiation and diplomacy skills.

Essential Experience: E1 Professional experience in the private/public sector with a demonstrable track record in managing and delivering significant business/process improvement projects to successful conclusions.

E2 Extensive experience as a professional Business Analyst, operating at senior levels, with a flexible range of analytical skills primarily focused on Process, Data, and Analytics.

E3 Proficient in using Microsoft Project software, Agile tools, or similar software.
E4 Significant expertise in leading business analysis activities, such as user research, process development, blueprints, and operating models involving multiple stakeholders.
E5 Experience in managing an organization-wide process-centric program of work.
E6 Proven success in utilizing multiple process improvement methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum. This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended (permanent).
