Job Title: Director Energy

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join our team at Carrington West. As a key member of our SHEQ team, you will provide pro-active leadership on sustainability and environmental issues, promoting a positive commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership on sustainability and environmental issues, identifying new opportunities to reduce environmental impacts.
  • Support and advise Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and Employees on environmental issues, responding to requests for assistance from the bid/business development team and other key functions.
  • Oversee the environmental performance of the business, delivering our environment strategy and sustainability commitments to our clients.
  • Periodically visit work locations and project sites to assess/review/inspect compliance levels, exercising the necessary authority to stop work to prevent environmental incidents or compliance breaches.
  • Ensure all relevant legislation and procedures are communicated and necessary training is developed to ensure business compliance.
  • Facilitate the Carbon Reduction Plan, overseeing the methods for measuring and reporting carbon improvement performance.
  • Collate environmental KPIs for internal monthly Board reports as well as contract specific environmental reports where required.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on matters of environmental management and sustainability, including clients, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and other project stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc or relevant equivalent in an Environmental Science or Environmental Management related subject and/or membership of IEMA and experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in a construction or highway maintenance environment.
  • Full driving license.
  • Strong ICT skills with experience in applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and the Internet.
