Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ironworker to join our team in Pinson/Birmingham, AL. As an Ironworker, you will be responsible for reading specifications and blueprints to determine the materials' locations, quantities, and sizes required. You will also hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place using cranes, hand signals, and tag lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Read specifications and blueprints to determine the materials' locations, quantities, and sizes required
- Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place using cranes, hand signals, and tag lines
- Pull, push, or pry steel members into approximate positions while the hoisting device supports the member
- Force members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools
- Align bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints using various bolts, nuts, washers, and torquing or welding
- Cut and weld steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies
Requirements
- Must have experience in blueprint reading, layout, and use of shop tools - oxy/acetylene torch, hand tools, drill press, saw, etc.
- Experience installing and refurbishing combustion furnaces
- Current weld certification
- OSHA 10-hour certified
- Work experience in the aluminum, steel, forging, ductile iron, petrochemical, co-gen, foundry, or automotive industries
