Position Overview

The successful candidate will join a dedicated and specialized validation team responsible for the independent assessment of various models utilized within the organization. The primary objective is to identify model risks and evaluate their potential impact. This role may also involve overseeing a small team of quantitative analysts.

The internal validation team engages in a wide range of activities, and the models subject to independent review will encompass (but are not limited to):

  • Credit rating models,
  • Scorecards,
  • Capital Internal Ratings-Based (IRB) models,
  • Economic capital frameworks,
  • IFRS9 provisioning models,
  • Stress testing methodologies,
  • Interest rate risk models for banking portfolios,
  • Pricing strategies,
  • Securitization frameworks,
  • Operational risk assessments,
  • Fraud detection models,
  • Economic forecasting models.

Each validation process will necessitate a thorough examination of all critical aspects of the model lifecycle, including data integrity, foundational model structures, performance metrics, practical application, governance frameworks, control measures, regulatory adherence, and implementation strategies. This role will require collaboration with key stakeholders across various departments, including credit risk management, model development teams, model custodians, users, controllers, and IT support.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Independently managing comprehensive validation projects within set timelines,
  • Strategically planning project milestones,
  • Mentoring and/or supervising analysts within the team,
  • Reviewing technical documentation related to model development,
  • Replicating model developments, analyzing their performance, and creating alternative models,
  • Evaluating compliance with relevant regulations,
  • Ensuring models meet their intended purposes,
  • Documenting validation processes in technical reports,
  • Presenting validation outcomes to senior management or approval committees.
