G&H is a world leader in optical designing, testing, and manufacturing. As experts in the technology of light, G&H works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to oversee our UK operations. This role will involve managing five sites across the country: our headquarters in Somerset, two manufacturing facilities in Devon, one in Kent, and an R&D hub in North Wales.

Responsibilities
  • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Support the company's strategic goals by ensuring all health and safety directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively implemented at each site.
    • Advise on the development, implementation, and execution of annual health and safety objectives.
    • Provide guidance on appropriate strategies for implementing new or revised policies.
    • Conduct annual audits and inspections of all sites in accordance with ISO 45001 best practices, including machinery, equipment, and work systems.
    • Identify health and safety training needs and develop relevant resources, delivering training sessions to employees.
    • Advise on the investigation of health and safety incidents at each site. Lead investigations where necessary, or collaborate with Human Resources staff on serious incidents.
    • Partner with Human Resources to monitor the status of all potential liability claims.
    • Conduct risk assessments and ensure systems are in place for effective corrective actions.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to health and safety in collaboration with site managers.
    • Assess and recommend appropriate health and safety software tools and applications to enable cost-effective standardization of working practices.
    • Ensure procedures are in place for records that comply with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Advise relevant staff on health and safety requirements throughout the design, introduction, use, and decommissioning of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.

    • Ensure a standardized procedure is in place across all sites for environmental compliance.
    • Advise on the implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems.
    • Monitor environmental performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Promote sustainable practices throughout the organization.
