Position Summary:

We are seeking an Automation Technician to enhance our Engineering Department at our manufacturing facility. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the programming and development of automation and control systems, ensuring the engineering designs are both resilient and dependable. As the technical lead at the site, you will excel in troubleshooting while spearheading continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage automation, electrical, and PLC design projects by identifying immediate and long-term challenges; prepare schedules, cost assessments, and comprehensive documentation upon project completion.
  • Design and execute projects that enhance manufacturing availability, product quality, employee safety, and process efficiency.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the manufacturing processes and their operational sequences, collaborating closely with maintenance teams.
  • Apply automation skills and techniques to foster improvements and share knowledge with maintenance teams.
  • Identify and implement plant/process development opportunities that enhance Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
  • Mentor and elevate the knowledge of the maintenance engineering team regarding machine control and automation systems.

Qualifications:

  • Completed apprenticeship as an Electrical Engineer or Automation/Controls, or possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an FMCG setting.
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and modifying programs across various PLCs, SCADA, and Robotics.
  • Familiarity with the parameterization and commissioning of servo drives and inverters.
  • Experience in diagnosing issues within industrial communication networks.
  • Skilled in designing and altering control circuits and program logic.
  • Experience in managing change initiatives effectively.
