The Role & About the Company
ITS (Southampton) Ltd is seeking a skilled Planner/Senior Planner to join their team in residential development. The ideal candidate will have experience in green field housing sites and a background in planning consultancy or house building.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the submission of planning applications to Local Authorities.
- Compile planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation for submission to Local Authorities, including research on prior planning history of sites.
- Submit and manage successful planning applications.
- Organize and maintain office work systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date computer records.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of Local Authorities' Planning policies and Local Plan Reviews for internal reference.
- Monitor and review local planning policy, including strategies for transport, the local economy, jobs, green infrastructure, renewable energy, climate change, and the historic environment.
- Conduct research to inform planning applications.
- Assist in the production of Planning Sketch Schemes through liaison with architects.
- Collate and maintain evidence from public consultation meetings where necessary.
- Attend Planning Committee Meetings, Rights of Way Panels, and Public Consultation Meetings to represent the company.
- Liaise with the planning and development teams to understand operational development needs.
- Report directly to the Director of Regeneration, providing timely and accurate reporting as requested.
- Be responsible for own continuous professional development, ensuring full skills and training in the post.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in Planning, preferably in a construction or house building background. They will be commercially aware and have a strong understanding of planning processes and regulations.
Qualifications/Experience
- A Planning, Surveying, or Architecture Degree or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Experience of planning processes and regulations in relation to planning approval.
- Commercial awareness.
