To further their mission of inclusivity, we are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Support Assistant to join their dynamic team.

Role Overview:

As a key member of the educational team, you will play an essential role in enhancing the academic success and inclusion of students with special educational needs. You will work closely with educators, special education professionals, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive and motivating learning environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized assistance to students with special educational needs, adapting teaching strategies and resources as necessary.
  • Execute and assess individualized education and behavior plans in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Partner with educators to tailor instruction and nurture an inclusive classroom setting.
  • Facilitate the participation of students with special needs in mainstream classroom activities.
  • Engage with colleagues to exchange critical insights regarding student progress and challenges.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents to provide updates on student development and collaborate on home support strategies.
  • Design and modify educational resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Identify and apply suitable assistive technologies in partnership with teaching staff.
  • Encourage the independence and self-advocacy skills of students with special educational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs, preferably in a mainstream educational environment (Preferred).
  • Understanding of various special needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
