Position Overview: Trade Compliance Legal Counsel
As a pivotal member of TechnipFMC, the Trade Compliance Legal Counsel plays an essential role in ensuring adherence to ethical standards while fostering innovation and success within the organization. This position involves providing legal guidance on Trade Compliance, particularly concerning global sanctions and export controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and resolve Trade Compliance issues related to global sanctions, export controls, customs, and anti-boycott regulations.
- Collaborate with global business units to conduct Trade Compliance due diligence, including the assessment of new contracts and tenders.
- Perform thorough due diligence on potential business partners, ensuring compliance with sanctions lists and verifying corporate ownership structures.
- Engage with external legal advisors as necessary to uphold compliance with international trade laws.
- Deliver training sessions to Business Development and Project teams on due diligence processes and export control requirements.
- Coordinate with the Product Classification and Licensing team to manage export control evaluations and licensing for international operations.
- Propose and implement enhancements to internal Trade Compliance policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a law degree from a European, UK, or Norwegian institution, or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated legal expertise in global trade compliance, particularly in sanctions and export controls.
- Experience working in-house within Legal, Compliance, or related departments is preferred.
- Familiarity with global sanctions, especially those involving key countries, and understanding of dual-use export controls.
- Ability to work autonomously while demonstrating initiative and effective management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity for planning and prioritization.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Fluency in professional English is required.
Work Environment:
This role offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both in-office and remote work. Some international travel may be required to support compliance operations.
