Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Lead to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our Alcohol Care Team, you will be responsible for providing nursing leadership and expertise to enhance the effectiveness of our service.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mental health nursing, with a focus on alcohol use disorder. You will be a skilled practitioner in assessment and management, able to deliver care that meets up-to-date national guidance and research.

As a Nurse Lead, you will work across professional, departmental, and Trust boundaries to develop and support patient-centred seamless care. You will be responsible for leading nurse-led alcohol care initiatives and maintaining a level of competence to provide specialist clinical advice and support to staff within the hospital and other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing leadership and expertise to enhance the effectiveness of the Alcohol Care Team
  • Develop and support patient-centred seamless care across professional, departmental, and Trust boundaries
  • Lead nurse-led alcohol care initiatives and maintain a level of competence to provide specialist clinical advice and support
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement policies and procedures for substance use clients and services
  • Supervise and develop the Alcohol Care Team, providing guidance and support to staff
Requirements
  • Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register
  • Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master's Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge
  • Specialist training/qualification in area of practice
  • Experience of leading learning in practice and supporting colleagues to promote learning
  • Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
  • Leadership qualification/training and experience of team leadership
  • Counselling/advanced communication skills qualification/training
