Job Description:

Overview:

As a Senior Associate Full Stack Engineer at Discover Financial Services, Inc., you will play a critical role in building and releasing reliable software systems at scale. You will partner with enterprise-wide teams to develop and maintain full stack solutions that meet our business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
  • Learns more complex software engineering practices such as domain driven design, test driven development, operations, and security.
  • Contributes to agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms, and participates in technology communities.
  • Learns to support production systems and understands how observed events and failures impact the product.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience building Java-based applications.
  • Time spent working for an organization in financial services, specifically payment services.
  • Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team.
  • Experience working with a relational database.
  • Proven skills in high availability and scalability design, as well as performance monitoring.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or MariaDB.
  • Experience in working in a cloud environment such as AWS.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
