Special Education Primary Instructor - Focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-time role as a Special Education Primary Instructor
  • Work within a specialized secondary institution catering to students with Autism and related learning and behavioral challenges
  • Manage small class sizes of 6-8 students, emphasizing effective communication strategies
  • Utilize sensory rooms, soft play, and therapy spaces to provide targeted support from various specialists, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, psychologists, and counselors
  • Implement an Integrated Therapeutic Approach with extensive one-on-one support for each student
  • Employ specialized communication techniques such as Makaton, PECS, and TEACCH
  • Deliver a balanced and creative curriculum that prepares students for life beyond the classroom
  • Encourage Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to pursue their professional development in specialized fields
  • A background in psychology or specialized training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly advantageous
