Job Title: Environmental Fate Risk Assessor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide environmental modelling expertise to assess the impacts of chemicals on the environment, covering agrochemicals, pesticides, and occasionally biocides and general chemicals.
  • Conduct regulatory environmental risk assessments of agrochemicals, utilizing relevant guidance documents and computational/mathematical modelling tools (e.g. FOCUS models, EUSES) to determine estimates of environmental exposure.
  • Prepare assessment reports and dossiers for regulatory authorities, ensuring all standards are met and submissions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Liaise and negotiate with commercial clients and regulatory authorities, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • A PhD (or equivalent experience) in a numerate scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, maths, biology) and a second degree in an environmental discipline or similar.
  • Experience of computer simulation modelling and/or experience in environmental fate and behaviour and/or ecotoxicology of chemicals, preferably in a regulatory context.
  • A good understanding of risk assessment approaches and the data requirements for the models along with the ability to interpret data.
