Datascope Recruitment is a leading recruitment agency in the gaming industry, dedicated to building teams for games studios of all shapes and sizes. We have a wide variety of positions available with our clients who are creating immersive and engaging games and gaming experiences.

A dynamic team in Sydney, Australia, is looking for a game designer to join and expand the design department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with the studio director and lead designer to drive game development.
  2. Support various disciplines, including mission scripting and UE4 implementation, to ensure seamless game execution.
  3. Facilitate clear communication among team members and align project goals to achieve success.
  4. Work with departments and external studios to enhance game systems and tools, driving innovation and efficiency.
  5. Assist in managing team workload and productivity, ensuring timely project completion.
  6. Offer feedback and ideas for game controls and gameplay, enhancing the overall player experience.
  7. Adapt designs based on feedback from management and publishers, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  8. Test builds and report issues before stakeholder reviews, ensuring high-quality game delivery.
  9. Stay informed on competitive products across all platforms, driving game development and innovation.
  10. Maintain clear documentation for production tracking and idea sharing, promoting transparency and collaboration.
  11. Provide detailed bug reports and collaborate on new gameplay concepts, driving game development and improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Computer Science or Game Design with programming focus preferred, or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong communication, technical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  3. Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines, demonstrating time management and prioritization skills.
  4. Motivated, positive, and collaborative team player, with a passion for game development and innovation.
  5. Adaptable with strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality game delivery.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of industry experience, with a proven track record of game development and innovation.
  2. Credit on at least one published title, demonstrating game development and publishing expertise.
  3. Experience with Unreal Engine or similar, driving game development and innovation.
  4. Proficiency in coding or scripting, with a strong understanding of game development principles and practices.
