Position Overview

An experienced Estimator is sought to support a prominent construction firm specializing in cladding solutions for both commercial and residential projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the estimating department, ensuring accurate quotes and effective communication with clients.

Estimator Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to clarify their requirements and gather necessary documentation such as drawings and measurements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product pricing for various facade materials.
  • Calculate the area in square meters for the facade cladding from provided drawings, utilizing AutoCAD software for precision.
  • Input the calculated area into the cost estimation template.
  • Identify the appropriate product costs, incorporating them into the quote along with the company's margin percentage.
  • Include additional details such as color, texture, and any special requests in the quotation.
  • Present the completed quotation to the senior estimator or technical manager for review before submission to the client.
  • Follow up with clients to provide further information or clarification as needed.
  • Upon receiving an order, verify details and facilitate the handover to the project management team.
  • Provide general administrative support to the estimating department.
  • Participate in product training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • A background in the construction sector, with knowledge of facade or fenestration industries being advantageous.
  • Experience in pricing or estimating roles, particularly in calculating selling prices by applying the necessary margin to costs.
  • Candidates with a financial accounts background are also encouraged to apply, as analytical skills are highly valued.
  • Strong mathematical abilities for accurate calculations and take-offs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and AutoCAD.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the capability to extract essential information.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, characterized by a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Self-driven and enthusiastic, with excellent analytical skills.
