Medical Laboratory Assistant

Maidstone Hospital, situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, serves a large population and is home to the regional Oncology centre, which is expanding in support of the Kent cancer network.
The Histology department provides services for Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trusts, Medway NHS Foundation Trust, and Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, resulting in a combined Histology workload of approximately 83,000 cases per year.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and processing of histology samples
- Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Support the team in the delivery of high-quality patient care
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Histology department at Maidstone Hospital, working as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and processing of histology samples, contributing to the maintenance of a clean and organized laboratory environment, and supporting the team in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Requirements- Evidence of numeracy and literacy (e.g. standard pass or better for GCSEs in mathematics and English Language)
- A level or equivalent
- Experience of skilled manual activity or work
- Basic understanding of laboratory health and safety requirements
- Basic understanding of Cellular Pathology
- An understanding of the need for confidentiality
