Textile Quality Specialist

Location: London

Salary: Up to £40,000 - £50,000 based on experience

Fella and Jones is exclusively collaborating with a prestigious Contemporary brand in search of a skilled and meticulous Textile Quality Specialist to enhance their dynamic London headquarters. Reporting directly to the Head of Technical, your primary focus will be on managing bulk fabric approvals, conducting tests, and developing care labels throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation in textiles along with a comprehensive understanding of fabric performance criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the bulk fabric approval process, ensuring adherence to company standards and specifications.
  • Perform fabric testing to assess performance characteristics such as durability, colourfastness, shrinkage, and other pertinent attributes.
  • Design and validate care labels, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Work closely with design, sourcing, and production teams to address any fabric-related challenges during the pre-production phase.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in textile technology and fabric performance standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of fabric approvals, testing outcomes, and care label specifications.
  • Promote the adoption of sustainable practices in fabric selection and production.
  • Assess and select new fabric suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and performance benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of fabric suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Fabric Technologist or in a comparable role within a luxury or premium brand.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabric types, characteristics, and performance standards.
  • Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with sustainable fabric practices and innovations is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in utilizing fabric testing equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a data-driven decision-making approach.
