Specialty Registrar in Surgical Medicine

Position Overview
The Surgical Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit 3 Specialty Registrar Doctors in Surgical Medicine. These positions are for a fixed term duration with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement. Candidates must possess MRCS or an equivalent qualification. It is important to note that these roles do not provide a National Training Number. Full registration with the GMC and a valid licence to practise are mandatory, and sponsorship will be necessary for candidates without the right to reside in the UK. The responsibilities associated with these roles are comparable to those of ST3+ level.
Key Responsibilities
The appointees will deliver surgical care to the community, including both scheduled and emergency services. Participation in an on-call rota, which includes night and weekend duties, is a requirement of this position.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Required
- Registered (or eligible for registration) with the GMC and possess a licence to practise.
- Hold a Basic Medical Degree.
- MRCS qualification.
Clinical Experience
Required
- Completion of foundation training and core surgical training (4 years) or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 months of clinical experience within the NHS (excluding clinical attachments).
Desirable
- Experience in General Surgery at a Registrar level.
Research Skills
Required
- Ability to critically evaluate published research and apply findings to clinical practice as appropriate.
- Basic understanding of research methodologies and statistical analysis.
Desirable
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching and Mentoring
Required
- Experience in educating medical students and junior medical staff.
Professional Development
Required
- Evidence of participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within the last year.

- Maintenance of a CPD portfolio or diary.
