Job Description

**Role Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Engineer to play a key role in the development of future product ranges and new technologies. As a Senior Development Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of new products and technologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Main Responsibilities

  • **Ownership and Responsibility**: Take ownership and responsibility for the completion of testing and development activities on new product designs, systems, and components from project creation through to engineering sign-off and completion.
  • **Machine Driving and Operation**: Drive and operate machines, including benchmarking and liaising with test drivers and group assessors.
  • **Technical Issue Resolution**: Diagnose machine technical issues and work with different teams to solve problems.
  • **Application Understanding**: Understand the application of machinery and customer requirements.
  • **Problem Analysis and Solution Proposal**: Analyze problems and propose design solutions.
  • **Test Result Analysis and Reporting**: Analyze, report, and present test results.
  • **Test Rig Design and Commissioning**: Design, build, and commission test rigs.
  • **Customer Liaison**: Liaise with internal and external customers and departments as required during projects.
  • **Product Homologation and Legislative Conformance**: Ensure product homologation and legislative conformance.
  • **Engineering Sign-Off Records**: Provide information for engineering sign-off records, DVPSORs, and technical construction files.
  • **Team Supervision**: Supervise XP resources allocated to assist with development tasks and support prototype builds.

Requirements

  • **Education**: Degree/HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • **Experience**: Experience in the design and development of heavy vehicles.
  • **Technical Skills**: Good working knowledge of drive-train, hydraulics, and electrical/electronic systems.
  • **Soft Skills**: Enthusiastic attitude, sense of urgency, and desire to succeed. Good teamwork and communication skills with ability to influence change. Good working knowledge of data acquisition, processing, and vehicle testing. Strong Microsoft Office skills.
