Capgemini Engineering is seeking to recruit three skilled Principal-level Systems Engineers with significant expertise in Landing Gear to join our premier team. You will play a crucial role from the outset, contributing to the development and enhancement of our Landing Gear capabilities, delivering comprehensive solutions to a diverse range of clients in the aerospace industry.

This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility in your daily work locations, which may include company offices, client sites, and remote work from home.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute engineering tasks across a wide spectrum of Landing Gear Systems and Equipment Engineering, providing integrated technical solutions related to landing gear structure, braking, steering, and actuation systems.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities align with established requirements and are verified to demonstrate compliance with relevant airworthiness regulations and design standards.
  • Oversee and drive system and equipment modifications from initial concept through to certification.
  • Manage complex projects encompassing all aspects of equipment development, integrating both Systems and Equipment tasks.
  • Guide a team of mid-level and junior engineers, facilitating collaboration to develop cohesive technical solutions.
  • Maintain adherence to budgetary and scheduling constraints for each task, proactively managing and mitigating risks and opportunities while ensuring timely communication.
  • Deliver a responsive, client-focused service to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with external customers and suppliers on technical matters, instilling confidence in leading technical solutions.
  • Conduct technical investigations and root cause analyses to ensure optimal project performance.
  • Develop technical solutions and recommendations for in-service challenges, creating value for our clients.
  • Implement modifications and enhancements to existing Landing Gear Structures and Systems Equipment.
  • Review supplier documentation to support certification processes.
  • Actively participate in design reviews.
  • Support Validation and Verification activities utilizing DOORS.
  • Prepare technical documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable certification standards.
  • Create design office documentation, including technical reports, specification requirements, test procedures, and certification documents.
  • Provide on-demand support for production and flight testing activities.
  • Assist Customer Services Engineering and Product Safety as needed.
  • Evaluate test and evaluation plans and procedures, enhancing system and sub-system requirements management and generating specifications for Main and Nose Gear, Wheel, Tire, and Brake as required by the program.

Qualifications Required

  • Basic understanding of Aircraft and Aircraft System Qualification and Certification processes.
  • Experience with full V-cycle development, from feasibility studies to certification.
  • Proficient in updating DOORS.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO160, DO178, DO254, AFDX, and ARINC 429.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, particularly in Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics, is advantageous.
  • Expertise in Landing Gear, with a focus on Braking and Steering Control Systems.
  • System engineering experience, particularly in Verification and Validation tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Airbus Family Aircraft and familiarity with Airbus processes and methodologies.
  • Experience with design, modeling, simulation, or requirements capture applications such as Catia V5, MSC ADAMS, MATLAB, Simulink, or IBM DOORS is beneficial.

Security Clearance Requirements

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks will be required for successful candidates.

There are no nationality or residency restrictions; however, if you have lived outside the UK in the last three years, additional checks may be necessary.
