Job Title: HGV Class 1 Shunter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team at Logistics People. As a key member of our Transport Department, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition when loading and unloading trailers, maintaining safety and hygiene standards, and effectively managing your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work within the Transport Department to ensure efficient loading and unloading of trailers
* Maintain a high level of safety and hygiene standards at all times
* Effectively manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
* Liaise with colleagues to ensure completion of shift reports and daily checks
* Conduct trailer checks and report any defects or damage
* Complete trailer checklists and report to operations desk
* Perform shunting duties, including relevant maintenance and safety checks
* Liaise with warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading and unloading of trailers
* Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy
* Monitor services and MOTs, liaising with Transport Office and service vendor
* Assist with fuel delivery and manual dip of fuel
* Maintain a clean and tidy yard
* Liaise with Transport Office as required

Requirements:

* Currently hold a C+E licence
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work without direct supervision
* Adaptable and methodical approach to work and training
* Conscientious and reliable
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
* Effective prioritization of workload to meet set deadlines
* Ability to work as part of a team or individually
* Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours
