Job Title: Welder/Workshop Technician

Activus Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled Welder/Workshop Technician to join our clients team based in Blackburn, Aberdeen for a full-time, permanent role.

Job Summary:

This individual will be responsible for performing welding and hardfacing operations, with the primary purpose of servicing, maintaining and repairing roller cone drill bits and hole openers. You will be a key member of a small flexible team where duties and responsibilities will vary from driving a forklift to preparing and painting equipment prior to despatch and any other duties to fulfill our customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform welding tasks using MIG, and stick welding methods plus electric and gas oxy acetylene cutting
  • Service and repair of Roller Cone Bits. Including removing, inspecting, re-installing compensators and grease.
  • Re-tipping of Roller Cone Mill Tooth Bits
  • Manufacture and repair of Roller Cone Bit Breakers
  • Service and repair of Hole Openers and Hole Opener Cutters.
  • Execute hardfacing processes to restore worn or damaged surfaces, ensuring durability and longevity.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques.
  • Maintain and repair workshop machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Operate forklift truck when required to load and offload equipment.
  • Follow safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to support various projects and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding and hardfacing, preferably in a workshop or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG and stick) and familiar with hardfacing procedures and oxy acetylene cutting.
  • Knowledge of roller cone drill bits, bit breakers and hole openers preferred.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools and overhead crane
  • Forklift certificate preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet the company objectives
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration.
  • UK Driving License required
