Job Opportunity: Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language Specialism

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role requires a strong specialism in British Sign Language (BSL) and the ability to communicate effectively with Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support educators with lessons and work on a 1:1 or small group basis with students who require communication through BSL
  • Assist with administering the curriculum and building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support young people effectively
  • Supervise students as appropriate and provide support for individuals with challenging behaviors and SEND
Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in BSL
  • Full, clean Driving Licence to travel between Gateshead locations
  • Experience working with Hearing Impaired young people and a strong ability to forge positive relationships with educators and school staff
  • Patient, empathetic, and confident in their role

  • A valid Right to Work
  • An enhanced, Children's DBS on the update service, or the ability to complete one
  • References to cover the last two years of employment
