About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Walter Lilly. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for overseeing the surveying and commercial functions of multiple projects, ensuring optimal profitability and cash flow performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of detailed, timely, and robust second-stage tenders
  • Ensure the timely and comprehensive issue of valuations, final accounts, and all other commercial submissions
  • Develop and manage project risk and opportunities
  • Oversee the development of the commercial staff
  • Manage and review subcontract procurement on projects, manage subcontractor selection, and ensure all commercial staff deliver accurate and complete orders
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in the construction sector and a general understanding of the complexities involved
  • A record of achieving the best value outcome
  • Comfortable managing teams and overseeing staff development and training
  • Organisational skills to deal with several projects of varying value, type, and complexity
  • Previous engagement with Standard Forms of Measurement and the ability to manage re-measurement
  • Knowledge of statutory and contractual obligations placed upon the Main Contractor
  • Strong understanding of the commonly used provisions of the Standard Forms of Contract
  • Ability to prepare, review, and/or analyse CVRs/Cost to Completes
  • Technical skills to review and challenge construction and pre-construction programmes
  • Commercial awareness to plan, maintain, control, and report on the financial administration of projects
