Senior Group Coordinator 10+ - Summer Camp

Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:30

Compensation: £628.71 weekly salary based on age, experience, and qualifications.

Reporting Structure: Directly accountable to the Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an engaging base room environment for children, ensuring tidiness and proper storage of equipment.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to guarantee a fun and secure atmosphere for the children under your supervision.
  • Implement the daily activity schedule to deliver a diverse range of sessions as promised by Barracudas.
  • Design and conduct a variety of structured and enthusiastic activities.
  • Actively supervise and attend to the needs of children throughout the day, including during breaks and lunch.
  • Utilize available resources to plan and execute age-appropriate activities for the designated group.
  • Build rapport with each child, understanding their interests and integrating these into their camp experience.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to facilitate sessions.
  • Encourage full participation from all children in the group.
  • Oversee general welfare and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ensure the safe usage of equipment during sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience or qualifications in working with secondary school-aged children.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the contract start date.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with strong communication skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Capability to adapt and effectively manage unpredictable challenges in a childcare environment.
  • Must obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Participation in a Virtual Assessment Event is required for new applicants.
  • Completion of annual Online Training is mandatory.
  • Experience in managing challenging behavior for children aged 10 and above, or willingness to learn.
  • Attendance at an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season is necessary.
  • Assistance with end-of-camp pack-up is expected.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations by following instructions and maintaining a proactive approach to safety.
  • All organized activities must be suitable for the children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to engage in new activities and adhere to the activity schedule.
  • Maintain awareness of children's safety and whereabouts, respecting them as individuals and communicating daily about behavioral expectations.
  • Follow all camp protocols, including registration and collection procedures, while supporting colleagues in adhering to Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Serve as a positive role model by promoting healthy lifestyles and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any Child Protection concerns to the Management Team or designated personnel.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with the SSI to enhance inclusivity and foster open discussions regarding the timetable and group interactions.
  • Depending on staff availability, you may be asked to lead Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to assist with swimming sessions; swimwear is necessary, and a spare t-shirt will be provided.
  • This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake various tasks as dictated by your evolving role and the organization's objectives.
