Overview of the Position:

Skyscanner is in search of an exceptional Communications leader to elevate a high-performing team during a pivotal phase in the brand's evolution. We are looking for a Head of Public Relations to oversee a cohesive strategy for Corporate, Consumer, and Trade communications. This role will be a vital contributor to the Marketing Leadership team, jointly advancing the Awareness Strategy, which is essential to our marketing framework. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the global media landscape, extensive experience in comprehensive communications, and a talent for crafting engaging narratives that resonate with audiences, leveraging data, technology, and cultural trends.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Skyscanner's global communications team across consumer, corporate, and trade sectors to achieve outstanding media relations, impactful results, and enhance the brand's reputation through strategic media coverage. Actively participate in the Audience Leadership Team, advocating for integrated marketing efforts, including the Awareness Strategy as a key business priority, shaping the direction and strategy for this vital aspect of our marketing framework. Represent the communications function internally, providing performance insights, strategic counsel, and innovative ideas to ensure Skyscanner remains prominent in the media landscape and maintains a strong Share of Voice. Safeguard Skyscanner's reputation by effectively managing media crises in a timely manner. Develop a robust thought-leadership program for executive profiling to showcase business momentum and global commitment through industry engagements, corporate events, and media relations. Play a significant role in the Geo Growth strategy, enabling scalable communication initiatives. Lead our network of PR agency partners to meet objectives, effectively represent the brand, and continuously enhance Skyscanner's communications to be industry-leading. Collaborate closely with Marketing teams, including Brand and Social & Community, to maximize the impact of all initiatives. Maintain consistent messaging, including key facts and statistics that support the business's reputation and positioning. Curate, train, and manage Skyscanner's spokesperson team. Oversee the organization's global corporate communications strategy, developing the corporate brand narrative and proactive storytelling about strategic initiatives in various markets. Manage our global B2B Partner communications program, collaborating with commercial teams to highlight Skyscanner's value to partners and advertisers through thought leadership, media relations, and event activations. Work alongside the Corporate Affairs Director and other team members to handle global reactive media relations and support company-wide issues management practices. Collaborate on corporate/B2B media relations related to the company's Positive Impact strategy, including sustainability and inclusion initiatives.

Essential Skills:

Extensive experience in global corporate and consumer communications, preferably within a UK-based press office or communications agency. Significant experience in proactive and reactive global media relations, ideally within the travel, technology, or major B2C and B2B sectors. Proven track record in managing global agency networks and understanding diverse market dynamics. Established media relationships across Business, Travel, Industry Media, Transport, and News sectors. Experience in financial communications is a plus. Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly at senior leadership levels. A proven influencer and relationship builder with a history of achieving objectives through collaborative efforts. Effective communicator with the ability to articulate concepts and proposals clearly, engaging colleagues in the process. Experience in budget management. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Self-motivated, flexible, and collaborative with a positive attitude. Strong attention to detail, writing proficiency, and project management skills.

Following comprehensive surveys and workshops regarding team preferences, we have adopted a hybrid working model, typically involving two days in the office, adaptable to individual needs. This role is well-suited for candidates who are within commuting distance of one of our UK offices or are open to relocation.
