Airedale by Modine is seeking a motivated individual to enhance our Controls Department. This role involves contributing to the development and implementation of software solutions tailored for HVAC systems. As a member of our software team, you will engage in projects from their inception through to completion, gaining invaluable experience throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control system strategies for HVAC applications utilizing platforms such as Carel, Trend, Tridium Niagara, and Siemens.
  • Conduct software testing with functional test simulators to verify proper functionality.
  • Create comprehensive project documentation, including control philosophies, operation and maintenance manuals, functional test scripts, and BMS points lists.
  • Oversee site commissioning of control projects and ensure effective system integration across BMS, energy monitoring, and HVAC controls.
  • Participate in client and site meetings to clarify project scope and ensure operational correctness during commissioning.
  • Collaborate with the Research & Development team to integrate new technologies and enhancements into projects.
  • Support the training and mentoring of junior engineers and apprentices.
  • Provide technical assistance to site engineers and clients as needed.
  • Act as a primary contact for clients, addressing issues and fostering strong relationships.
  • Engage with customers and project engineers to ensure project success.
  • Be willing to travel as necessary and work overtime when required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A technical degree or relevant experience in controls or BMS.
  • Alternatively, completion of a recognized apprenticeship in air conditioning or refrigeration, coupled with a solid understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with programmable controllers is a plus; however, a strong willingness to learn is essential.
  • Experience with Carel 1tool software and pCO controllers.
  • Knowledge of Tridium Niagara 4 software and controllers.
  • Ability to comprehend and design control strategies effectively.
  • Understanding of HVAC applications, including heating and cooling systems.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems and communication networks.
  • Familiarity with BMS and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, TCP/IP).
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem-solving, demonstrating initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player.
