Electrical Maintenance and Repair Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Apprentice Electrician to join our team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. This is a fixed-term position for 48 months, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £21,000 per annum, plus an excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Estates Management team in providing a 24-hour maintenance service within the Portsmouth Hospital Trust.
  • Assist in completing PPMs and remedials on various electrical and mechanical hospital equipment, including RCDs, RCBOs, AHUs, Emergency Lighting, Pumps, and Motors.
  • Promote a culture of customer service to internal and external customers and partners, and liaise with other departments regarding maintenance issues.
  • Observe statutory and other relevant requirements, including the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH regulations, and the EAWR.
  • Diagnose faults, repair, and maintain complex equipment in accordance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTMs) and other specialized hospital guidance.
  • Carry out work of other trades where there is an interface to the work in hand, with a level of competence outside core trade.
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post.
  • Carry a radio or pager to facilitate immediate response.

Requirements:
  • 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalents) including Maths, English, and Science.
  • Ability to pass a DBS Standard check.
