Civil Engineering Project Lead

Are you seeking a position that provides ample opportunities for growth and advancement? If you are a driven and well-organized individual who thrives in high-pressure environments, consider joining our esteemed Sewer Rehabilitation team as a Project Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
In the role of Project Engineer, you will oversee the execution of sewer rehabilitation initiatives from initial design through to construction and final completion, ensuring adherence to quality, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
Your responsibilities will encompass financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, contractor coordination, and negotiations with third parties. Collaboration with our Environmental, Legal, Estates, and StreetWorks teams will be essential to successfully deliver each project.
Our team is committed to innovation, continually seeking new renovation strategies that enhance safety, ensure durability through superior design and quality, and minimize costs while reducing the impact on our clients. We have received numerous accolades for our innovative approaches and commitment to sustainability.
Currently, we are focusing on mitigating groundwater infiltration into the sewer system, thereby decreasing overflow discharges across various regions. This expansion includes lining troublesome private lateral lengths, connection points, and sealing manholes.
Your role will involve:
- Comprehensive management of projects during the construction phase, from initiation to completion, including all public relations aspects.
- Analyzing CCTV inspections to determine the most cost-effective solutions for sewer renovations.
- Collaborating closely with contractors and internal teams.
- Coordinating project plans with local councils in accordance with the Traffic Management Act and HAUC regulations to ensure timely progress.
- Monitoring financial performance and providing monthly reports to the program manager and quantity surveyor.
- Supervising contractor activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and procurement standards across various trenchless technology projects.
Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that the project delivery plan aligns with our policies and that CDM obligations are fulfilled. You will be tasked with identifying optimal solutions for challenges using appropriate engineering techniques and supporting the advancement of innovative trenchless rehabilitation methods.
The position is based at our Kingston Seymour office, with the flexibility to work remotely on occasion. The role requires site visits for initial assessments, participation in site meetings with contractors and stakeholders, and oversight of construction activities on-site. You should be prepared to work from other locations temporarily, as needed by team requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
Ideally, candidates will possess a background in construction or the water industry, with experience in project execution and collaboration with external contractors and stakeholders.
A safety-first mindset and strong negotiation skills are essential.
Additionally, candidates should have:
- A minimum of HNC level education in Civil Engineering or a related water industry qualification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with GIS mapping software.
- Experience in site supervision, minor civil engineering projects, and health and safety protocols.
- A proven track record in project management, with the ability to effectively plan, organize, and deliver tangible results.
- A valid driving license.
Benefits
- Comprehensive pension contributions up to 20%.
- Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
- 25 days of annual leave, increasing to 28 with service.
- Options to purchase additional holiday days and sell unused leave.
- A healthcare package for reimbursement of medical expenses.
- Life insurance coverage up to eight times your salary.
- Access to an electric vehicle in exchange for a portion of your salary.
- Discounts and cashback from over 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day annually.
- Enhanced family leave and pay policies.
- An interactive health and wellness platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral bonus for recommending a candidate.
