Job Title: Structures Section Engineer

Carrington West is seeking a highly skilled Structures Section Engineer to join one of our top clients on a major highways project.

This freelance role is perfect for an engineer who has a proven track record in managing complex structural works within large-scale infrastructure projects, especially in the highways sector.

The Role:

As a Structures Section Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the delivery of structural elements within your assigned section of the project.

Your expertise in structures will be essential in ensuring that all works are carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with design specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all structural works within your section, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other key infrastructure.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support on structural matters, ensuring all works are executed in accordance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform precise setting out for structural components and monitor progress to ensure alignment with the project's program.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure all structural works meet required standards and specifications.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations, with particular focus on the unique challenges posed by structural works on highways.
  • Liaise with the Site Agent, design team, and subcontractors to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of structural activities.
Requirements:
  • HNC, degree level, or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, with a strong focus on structural engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing structural works on major highways projects, with a deep understanding of the associated technical and logistical challenges.
  • Proficient in setting out, monitoring, and managing structural works, with a thorough understanding of construction processes in a highways context.
  • A keen eye for detail, ensuring all structural activities meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues related to structural works, keeping the project on track.
