Join Our Team as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician

Due to the expansion of our fleet, we are seeking an additional Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician to become part of our team. Reporting directly to the Depot Manager, the Technician will be tasked with the maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of the company's fleet of heavy goods vehicles, commercial transport, plant machinery, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, inspections, repairs, and testing on GCU's vehicles, plant machinery, and equipment, including fault diagnosis.
- Conduct regular safety inspections on all heavy goods vehicles in accordance with DVSA inspection manual standards.
- Diagnose issues within complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Prepare and present vehicles for bi-monthly inspections and annual MOT evaluations.
- Respond to breakdowns or accident-damaged vehicles to carry out necessary repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Health and Safety regulations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent qualifications, preferably with an IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification.
- Possession of an HGV license category C at a minimum is preferred.
- Previous experience in a relevant Technician role.
- Understanding of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in using computer systems for compliance record keeping.
