Sheet Metal Operative Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Operative to join our team at Inspired Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing fabricated sheet metal components and other items to a high standard in mild steel.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a similar industry with 2mm and 3mm sheet steel and be familiar with performing punching, bending, and welding operations. They will also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to read and interpret technical drawings in both 3rd and 1st angle projection.

The role requires the individual to have good time management skills, basic maths and English skills, and be able to use a variety of hand and power tools. Electronic or electrical qualifications would be advantageous, as would experience with turret/punch machines and press brakes with CNC interfaces.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a proactive approach to tasks. They will also have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

In return, we offer a competitive hourly rate of £16, 3.9 hours per week, weekly pay, on-site car parking, training and support, and the opportunity to work towards a full-time position based in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture fabricated sheet metal components and other items to a high standard in mild steel
  • Perform punching, bending, and welding operations
  • Read and interpret technical drawings in both 3rd and 1st angle projection
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Work independently and as part of a team

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a similar industry with 2mm and 3mm sheet steel
