We are thrilled to present an opportunity for a GIS Solution Architect to join our Central Architecture team at Yorkshire Water, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional service to our customers.

About Us:

Yorkshire Water plays a vital role in ensuring that over 5.4 million residents and countless visitors have access to clean and safe drinking water, while effectively managing wastewater services. Our commitment extends beyond basic utilities; we actively engage with communities, safeguard the environment, and strategically plan for the future of water management in Yorkshire.

In light of new environmental regulations, significant investment, and evolving customer expectations, we are excited to explore new opportunities within the water sector. Our Architecture team is integral to adapting to these changes and meeting the demands of our customers and regulatory bodies.

Your Role:

As a key member of the architecture team, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing GIS solutions that align with our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in ARC GIS/ESRI, functional architectural expertise, and a proven history of successful implementations, particularly with modern integrations involving CRM, ERP, and Data & Analytics platforms.

This role will encompass various proof of concepts (PoCs) and pilot projects aimed at enhancing processes, validating new technologies, and culminating in a phased rollout across the Yorkshire region.

As a GIS Solution Architect, you will:

  • Provide technical direction and design leadership for GIS architecture, staying updated on the latest ARC GIS advancements and integrating them as necessary.
  • Develop a comprehensive GIS roadmap that aligns with our modernization goals and corporate strategy.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of ARC GIS and ARCGIS Online, focusing on customization, configuration, integration, and analytical capabilities.
  • Facilitate seamless GIS integrations with enterprise applications, ensuring optimal data flow and enhancing overall system efficiency.
  • Create and maintain GIS-related architectural artifacts, including diagrams, high-level designs, and decision documentation.
  • Lead efforts to recruit specialized GIS talent to support program delivery and align with Yorkshire Water's operational model.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex design concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into actionable features and user stories.
  • Strong architectural, functional, and technical expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive ARC GIS solutions, including integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, CRM).
  • Experience in developing GIS strategies and roadmaps.
  • Solid understanding of GIS Utility Network data models and essential processes for implementation, preferably within the utilities sector.
  • Experience serving as a design lead on complex implementations alongside knowledgeable consultants in GIS solutions.
  • Ability to map end-to-end architectures within a complex system landscape, including data and integration design.
  • Experience working with large design and delivery teams to achieve successful outcomes, blending client and Systems Integrator resources.
  • Active participation in architecture governance forums to support design decisions for business-as-usual or program-based initiatives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience designing solutions that integrate ARC GIS with SAP S/4HANA and CRM platforms using modern integration technologies.
  • Experience delivering persona-based, GIS-centric analytical dashboards.
  • Strong background in utilities, particularly in customer and asset management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure API Management for event-based integrations.
  • Relevant certifications in ARC GIS.

We are committed to supporting flexible work arrangements to help you balance your professional and personal responsibilities. Our organization values diversity and inclusivity, encouraging candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

If you are an experienced Solution Architect with GIS expertise and a passion for delivering exceptional service while protecting the environment, we invite you to explore a career with Yorkshire Water.

Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment checks, including a Basic Disclosure Check through a third-party provider. Depending on the role, security vetting may also be required.

Note: The company reserves the right to close this position prior to the stated closing date if necessary.
