Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom to ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Support children with special educational needs in a school or formal setting
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems
  • Work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Develop and maintain effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills
  • Effective planning and organising skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by EA, or have a minimum of 3 months' experience of working with a child/children in a school or formal setting
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (special educational needs), child development issues, and health and safety requirements relevant to the role
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills
  • Effective planning and organising skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of 3 months' paid experience of working with a child/children in a school or formal setting
  • Have a minimum of 3 months' paid experience working with a child/children with special educational needs in a school or formal setting
